Baby Sam's Room

It is about time I finished the baby boy's room. It has come a long way over the past year. It started out like this. Not until last month did we even have the crib in here (our room), and just a week ago I finished printing pictures for the frames that have been hanging up since last summer.

I love the "I AM A CHILD OF GOD" canvas that my friend, Janell, made for me. She is so talented. I was trying to recreate this etsy find myself, but couldn't do nearly as good of a job as she did. I was very excited when she made one for me! Hanging beneath it is the outfit Sam was blessed in when he was 6 weeks old. Along the wall is a collage of frames filled with pictures of Sam and the fam (I didn't mean to rhyme... Sam is just a fun name like that). Jonny spray painted all of them - along with the changing table (Craigslist), chair and peg shelf (both Goodwill). Spray paint, spray paint, spray paint... he hates those projects, but I was pregnant! That is the diaper stacker I made way back when.

The bookshelf, side table, and crib are the same from Shayla's nursery. A few of you may recognize this glider chair. My mother-in-law offered it to us when she found herself a new one, and we gratefully accepted! It's so comfy and Sam loves to be rocked. I spend a lot of time sitting right there. I made the curtains from fabric found at JoAnn's. Balu sits atop the shelf. It's the same Balu I got from Santa when I was a child.

This is a better shot of the curtains. I was able to reuse Shayla's crib skirt which fit the color theme of the room. Under the crib is Shayla's favorite place to hide right now. I made the mobile and hung up his name just the week before he was born. Once I hung up the name Jonny knew there really were no other name options.

The baby hanging out while I take the pictures:

And the toddler who desperately needed a nap and her second outfit change of the day:

I'd be happy if the room stayed just this way, but usually books and [clean] diapers are covering the floor. I'm sure you can all guess why!

  1. Cute! I'm glad you've gotten it put together how you like it- and so frugally too! I miss my cute baby room in Brigham City that all my family helped put together. Wah!

  3. I have more time now to express what I was thinking. You made it look like a photo from a decorating magazine. I think that is such a talent that you took ordinary things and made everything so pleasing to the eye. You used colors I would never have thought of together and then made it look like an interior designer planned the room. Great job!
